Abstract

The siliconvertexdetectoroftheBelleIIexperiment, structuredinalanternshape, consistsoffourlayers of ladders, fabricatedfromtwoto five siliconsensors.TheAPV25readoutASICchipsaremountedonone side oftheladdertominimizethesignalpathforreducingthecapacitivenoise;signalsfromthesensor backside aretransmittedtothechipbybent flexiblefan-outcircuits.Theladderisassembledusing severaldedicatedjigs.Sensormotiononthejigisminimizedbyvacuumchucking.Thegluingprocedure providessucharigidfoundationthatlaterleadstothedesiredwirebondingperformance. Thefullladder with electricallyfunctionalsensorsisconsistentlycompletedwithafullydevelopedassemblyprocedure, and itssensoroffsetsfromthedesignvaluesarefoundtobelessthan200 μm.

Thepotentialfunctionality of theladderisalsodemonstratedbytheradioactivesourcetest.
