Abstract

Women are affected by clinical events of atherosclerotic origin with the same frequency as men. This events areonly postponed into older age in women.

On the one hand, large observational studies did not indicate the presence of specific cardiovascular factors in women. On the other hand, unique feature for preventing atherosclerosis in the female population may be more effective timing of management of cardiovascular factors in a particular pweriod of woman life.

The particular peeriod could be menopausal transition and/or time interval immediately after menopause (approximately 6 years).
