Rabindranath Tagore and his ideas in Czechoslovakia in the first half of the twentieth century

Abstract

This essay outlines the first reactions of the Czech press to Rabindranath's award of the Nobel Prize, his first translations from original Bengali and English into Czech, Tagore's two visits to Prague and many responses to Tagore and his ideas by influential Czech intellectuals.
