Abstract
The review describes the publication "Zdeněk Fibich and Czech concert melodrama" by Czech author Věra Šustíková. This is the first book published in the Czech Republic that offers comprehensive insight into the development of melodrama in Europe from its beginnings to the creation of concert melodrama as a distinct musical-dramatic form.
At the same time it offers a brief overview of the next generation of melodrama composers.
