Abstract
The contribution shortly drafts the problems of the incipient Slovak diplomacy and approaches the political action of Karol Sidor, before the beginning of his diplomatic function. The attempt of this study is not to offer an compact insight of his activity in Vatican, but it rather foccuses on the peripetia, that went along with his diplomatic mission.
It approaches the circumstances of filling the post of the delegate of Vatican in Bratislava, the occupation of the position of nestor of the diplomatic assembly in Slovakia, Sidor's attempts of conracting of the concordat between Slovak republic and Holy See and his effort of creating Slovak archbishopric. At the end the interventions of Vatican in connexion with anti-semitic legislation in Slovakia are described.
