Abstract
At the turn of the millennium, authors in the Czech Republic began to systematically explore the question of (re-) politicization of art. As demonstrated by the show Decreased budget (1997-8), Public District / Art in dialogue with the public (1999), Malik Urvi (2000) Politik-um / New Engagement (2002) and then later Czechpoint (2006), explicitly aimed at mapping social and current political events and the emergence of groups engaged in the production of "political art" (Pode Bal, Rafani, Guma Guar, Ztohoven), this phenomenon in the Czech Republic is gaining strength and is becoming a subject of curatorial and later theoretical reflection.
The following text outlines the various forms and position of this type of art on the example of the art group Pode Bal selected through implementation since its founding in 1998 to the present. At the same time, the text aims to track changes related to specific works of art institutions and mechanisms of power from critical opposition to a mutual symbiosis.
