Abstract
The presented study compiles results of the Burial Mounds Project (BUM). Altogether, BUM project verified nearly 500 features in Yambol district.
The macro regional study focuses on the quantification of burial mounds in the entire district. The number is further refined by the micro regional study in Elkhovo municipality, sub-part of the district.
The results enable to follow pros and cons of utilizing topographical maps in different scales and satellite imagery for determining mounds. The study also attempts to quantify the rate and the speed of the burial mounds' decline as well as identifies major factors contributing to their decay.
