Abstract

The light meant a lot in methods of displaying the reality and formation of styles in painting. From using of light to view the transcendental elements in the Middle Ages, the using of the night scenes by Netherlands masters of the 15th century and the Leonardo's sfumato to Caravaggio's emphasising the contrast of light and darkness and Carracci's using of the mirror to various pictorial communication on reality.

Galileo at this time through the telescope and his art of drawing identifies spots of the Moon as the craters. Relations between the light phenomena, optics and painting are very rich in complex.
