Cantus fractus and the Engelberg motet style. On the question of possible relationships

Abstrakt

Jaromír Černý has edited a two-part Credo with different texts in its parts. The piece has been ascribed to the category of Engelberg Motets.

On the other hand the single parts of the Credo reveal a great similarity to the Cantus fractus. Based on a short examination of the two-part Credo the paper compares the Engelberg Motet Style with Cantus fractus.

It seems that both don't have common roots, yet they probably have there origins in related or neighbouring regions.
