Abstract
The reason for geotechnical activities are problems with excessive settlement of the dam bulit from heap material, the aim of the work is to determine the causes of this subsidence and, where appropriate, to create a proposal for the restoration of the apropriate state. On the basis of investor's requests, the work is divided into activities associated with the soil survey (recognoscation into the site belongs here, the important task is work with drilling specimen collecting, sample trimming, geological documentation) and geotechnical assessment (this includes laboratory triaxial, shear-box and oedometric tests, numerical modelling based on the selection of a critical profile, the overall assessment and forecast of the state of the dam in the future).
