Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2015

Abstract

The article describes political art in Mongolia since it ceased to be a policy instrument designed to serve propagation. The turning point is democratic revolution that provided artists with opportunity to express themselves freely, but at the same time it brought serious problems associated with modernization, globalization and other processes occurring in the world today.

One of the responses to these problems is development of engaged political art that criticizes politics, corruption, destruction of nature, getting distant from traditions and social problems and makes people aware that it is necessary to notice these issues and actively participate in efforts to improve them. It seems that political art is still in its beginnings, but it is already possible to recognize some important figures, including Yo.

Dalkh-Ochir, S. Mashbat, E.

Naidandorj, U. Narbayasgalan and other artists.
