Keiji Nishitani: Person as a Mask of Absolute Nothingness

Publication at Faculty of Humanities |
2016

Abstract

In this article we are dealing with Keiji Nishitani. This "Kyoto School" philosopher developed a very interesting theory of the self in his most prominent work in the west Religion and Nothingness.

My aim will be to discuss the self in the context of Nishitani, using the metaphor he himself referred to. As the title of this article already explains, the self is for Nishitani "The Person as Mask of Absolute Nothingness".
