Abstract

The study deals with the issues of the Czechoslovak independence movement in Italy during the First World War. The creation of the Czechoslovak legions during the First World War was a specific case.

The formation of voluntary army was an initiative of the members of Czechoslovak National Council to support the establishment of the new independent state. The Czechoslovak legions were founded in Italy on 21. 4. 1918.

These legions led by Italian officers also participated in the fights in Slovakia in 1919.
