Abstract

Anatomical findings to account for over 2,000 years, the publication deals with ancient origins field monitors key figures working in Egypt, Greece and Rome. Preserved anatomical work of genius Galen, based on findings in animals has become a cornerstone for the preserver of ancient knowledge in the Arab countries, to the school of Salerno and medieval European anatomy.

Among the pioneers restorers anatomy and human dissection after a thousand years of interruption they worked less well-known anatomists: Mondino dei Liuzzi, Gabriele Zerbi, Niccolo Massa, Jacobo Berengario and more. Anatomical studies to engage artists: Leonardo de Vinci, Michelangelo, Albrecht Dürer.

Discussed period completes the outstanding work of the early modern era, created by Andreas Vesalius, who is critically compared with Galen. The authors have divided 1300 years.

The work is based largely on the excerption and evaluation of accessible works in the Latin language, evidenced along with illustrations in this period, the gradual transfer of knowledge and refinement of classical anatomy - the basis for the development of scientific medicine.
