Abstract
A comprehensive description of the religion and the history of the religious-ethnic community of the Yezidis, with a focus on their history from the 19th century onwards in their respective countries of origin (Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and the former Soviet Union) as well as in diaspora. The study is based on a critical approach to the existing landmark academic works, media reporting, the community's self-presentation in publications and the media, and consultations with informants hailing from diverse strata of Yezidi society.
According to the information available to the author, the book chapter he has written is so far the largest expert text on the Yezidis in the Czech language.
