New comorbid disease in eating disorders - modification of treatment

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2016

Abstract

Eating disorders are often accompanied by psychiatric and somatic comorbidity, which may significantly influence the course of the disease, its treatment and prognosis, leading to chronic course and disability. In this communication we focus on new comorbid problems increasing in recent years in patients with eating disorders that could fundamentally modify the treatment.

We present two case reports. Our first experience with treatment of anorexia nervosa and comorbid Asperger syndrome and the second one demonstrating the treatment of patients with bulimia nervosa with the issue of proven allergy to gluten, cow's milk protein and histamine intolerance.
