Abstract

929/5000 MII provides more information than simple pH measuring at the same risk and performance tests for the patient, and is therefore preferable in pediatric patients. MII also records non-acidic reflux and is able to evaluate temporal association between reflux episodes and difficulties better than a simple pH measuring.

MII can be done at any age, from premature neonates to adolescents. An important prerequisite for successful examination of the good cooperation of the patient and / or his family, especially high-quality recording of symptoms.

The best evidence of correlation between symptoms and reflux episodes index is SAP (Symptom Association Probability). When SAP with a p <0.05 is unlikely that the temporal relationship between a symptom and reflux episodes was accidental.

For the evaluation of the number of reflux episodes impedances available quality standards. MII is more expensive and requires more time and experience in investigating compared with a simple pH-metry.
