Gastroesophageal reflux disease in neonates

Abstract

The incidence of re-entry of gastric contents into the esophagus (gastroesophageal reflux episode) in neonates, especially immature, very common. The majority of reflux episodes are asymptomatic.

Reflux episodes associated only with ublinkáváním, in the absence of other clinical symptoms, occurring in 70% of children under the age of 3-4 months and require no further investigation or follow-up. Reflux episodes associated with clinically significant difficulty known as gastroesophageal reflux disease.
