Abstract

The Nymburk sports centre is a training centre of the Czech Union of Sport (formaerly Czech Association of Physical Education and Sports). It is located in beautiful surroundings of a forest park on the banks of the River Elbe.

There are outdoor and indoor sports fields for almost 20 types of sport, mostly Olympic sports. There is also an offer of regenerative services.

There is a three-star hotel on the premises with the capacity of 250 beds and 18 extra beds including several barrier-free (wheelchair-accessible) rooms, a dining room offering all-day catering, Lobby Bar and evening Sport Bar. The area also has a lot of lecture halls and training rooms that are equipped with corresponding audio-video technology.

This sport complex played important role for training especially Czech and Slovak athletes during second part of the 20th century. But a lot of facilities are old-fashioned sports grounds and background - particurlarly accommodations.

The most common visitors of sports centre are primarily representative teams of almost all sport associations from youth to senior categories. Therea are also provided training camps for a lot of centres of talented youth and sport classes.

Other clients are home and foreign professional clubs. The Nymburk sports centre have been the place of company sport events or company schoolings, workshops and conferences for several decades.

According to the plan of the Czech Olympic Committee and Czech Union of Sprt the sports complex should become new national Olympic centre for preparation of representatives. Moreover it should be available to public.
