The article analyzes the sets, the key game activities in volleyball. Its quality and accuracy greatly affects the performance of the team in the offensive phase.
A case study is to compare the world's volleyball teams and the Czech volleyball representation in terms of speed of flight sets and the frequency sets in zones IV and II. The analyzed group consists of four teams belonging to the absolute world elite (Brazil, Italy, USA and Russia) and the Czech volleyball team.
For each of these teams, we analyzed five matches. To obtain the results we used an indirect observation using Dartfish.
To calculate the speed needed to determine the exact distance of the players (setter and forward), we used the creation of tables and the time that we measured precisely using Dartfish. We found that the speed of the sets from the individual zones to the zones IV and II for the monitored teams were different at least.
The highest frequency of quick sets to zones IV and II had Italy (193), the lowest of the Czech representation (148). In zone IV was detected the highest frequency of team USA (100) and to the zone II of Italy (98).
A relatively balanced distribution of the zones 6 and 7 in the zones IV and II had a team of Brazil and the highest differences has reached the Czech republic, which outweighs the higher number of sets in the zone of the IV.
