Abstrakt
The chapter analyzes Iamblichus' account of Pythagorean dietetics in Vit. Pyth. 29.
More precisely, the chapter seeks to show that Iamblichus' story is most probably based on a Pythagorizing interpretation of_one single treatise, which represents the crowning achievement of ancient Greek medical dietetics. In this way, the interpretation presented in this chapter rather undermines the value of lamblichus' report for understanding the early history of Pythagoľean dietetics, but it can throw some light on the constitutiory integratiory and transfer of knowledge in the Pythagorean tradition.
