The aim of this paper is to show the important role of the phenomenon of self-love in Rousseau's concept of evil in the world and among the people. First, the text recflects on possible continuity of Rousseau's understanding of evil on the line of classic theodicy, although in a significantly modified way.
In such context the text focuses on the centrality of self-love in Rousseau's conception of evil. The text tries to show that if Rousseau talks about evil, he attributes crucial importance to this concept of self-love, not only in the question of the source of evil, but also as a possibility of its suppression.
