Assumption in 17th Century Painting in Bohemian-Moravian Highlands: Altar Paintings from Pelhřimov and Havlíčkův Brod

Abstract

The article deals with altar paintings of 17th century and theme the Assumption of Virgin Mary. Artworks form church of Assumption of Virgin Mary in Havlíčkův Brod and Saint Bartholomew in Pelhřimov are demonstrative examples of Italian and Flemish influence for Czech art environment.

The first painting reflects work of Peter Paul Rubens, the second one follows art works of Bolognese school.
