The Mountains of Cental Asia

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2017

Abstract

Central Asia's mountains are covered extensively by glaciers which have been subject to accelerating rates of melting since the latter half of the 20th century. This is caused by verifiable increases in air temperature and further retreating of the glaciers and losses in glacier mass can be anticipated in the near future.

Climate change is also altering runoff conditions for the region's main rivers.
