Variant plans in the from the "Dientzenhofer-Sketchbook" - a journey from Imitation to Invention

Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2016

Abstract

The following paper deals with a selected group of architectural plans from the so-called Dientzenhofer Sketchbook and their use in architecture training during the Baroque period. Architectural principles and themes that mainly dealt with spatial layouts were trained with the help of halved church ground plans.

This procedure served as a practical counterpart of the more usual treatises.
