Abstract
Domain of competitive sports and top athletic performance represents the area of intensive research interest. Football as the most widespread and popular sport on the planet is in the centre of attention.
It was documented in the 21st Congress of the European Council of Sports Sciences (ECSS) in Vienna on July 6th to 9th, 2016 that football in last years belongs to those athletic activities, where targeted interest was focused. The most important findings from numerous presentations in the congress relating to football are presented in annotations of selected papers. .
