Abstrakt
In this paper I first present the motivation for holding a fiction view of scientific models. I then review two different construals of fiction, i.e. fiction as imagination (the make-believe approach) and fiction as falsehood, that are found in the literature.
I argue that there are possibly two problems for drawing a sharp distinction between the two construals of fiction. I then present a framework consisting of three key topics that allow me to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of the make-believe approach toward scientific models.
