Collision Between Rail and Road Vehicles, Description of the Experiment

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2014

Abstract

The article deals with the research and evaluation of the crash collision between the car and rail vehicle. The research of the railway vehicle frontal impact to the side structure of a passenger car has a fundamental importance according to the available statistics.

The design of the experiment was based on the assumption of significant incompatibilities of colliding vehicles. The passenger car was situated perpendicularly to the rail and it was hit by the testing rail unit simulating the collision of the railway crossing.

The status and legislation development is also taken in account. Measurement methodology is based on the valid legislation for testing of the passenger cars, rail vehicles and crash test dummies.

The predicted probable car's crew injury is subsequently derived from the measured results.
