Films VS Pictures in Experimental Emotion Elicitation

Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

Films are often theorized to be more effective emotion elicitors than pictures. This reasoning lacs empirical background.

We compared self-report and physiological responses to film excerpts and IAPS pictures. Positive pictures triggered the weakest responses.

Reactions to negative pictures and films were comparable. According to our study, films seem to be more effective elicitors only for positive stimuli.
