Abstract
The paper is dedicated to education as personal mission and shows education as linked to awareness. The latter does not long for fulfilment and satisfaction, but for opening up communities through encounters around things, as Professor Jaroslava Pešková used to point out to her students.
The paper addresses the main starting points of the phenomenon of education, i.e. care for one's home and the basic movements of the soul according to the late Czech philosopher Jan Patočka.
