Faecal incontinence and constipation look surgeon

Abstract

Health problems of an aging population regularly include incontinence and sexual dysfunction, although they are currently diagnosed and treated only sporadically. Faecal incontinence is the cause of health, sanitation, psychosocial and economic problems bedeviling both disabled persons and persons close and caring.

More than half of those treated in nursing and social and health institutions suffer from incontinence of urine or feces, respectively. combinations thereof. Despite the high prevalence of these diseases is the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and comprehensive care for people suffering from incontinence of stool on the brink of interest to the public and professionals, although the problem is interdisciplinary, falling within the competence of surgeons, neurologists, psychiatrists and psychologists, and last but not least gastroenterologists.

The present monograph offers an introduction of basic anatomy and physiology, more detail is devoted constipation, incontinence and rectal prolapse. In subsequent chapters, provides clearly structured information on the etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms and diagnosis, and in detail, presents the individual therapeutic methods.
