Abstract

Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) was created in 2005 to capture people with mild cognitive dysfunction (in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease or with mild cognitive impairment) and to differentiate them from healthy people. MoCA investigates six cognitive domains (executive function, visual-spatial skills, shortterm memory, attention, language, orientation) within 10-15 minutes.

It is available in 36 languages and three alternative versions for the retesting. Czech MoCA exists in a standard version from 2006 and new training version from 2012.

Original cut off score for the detection of cognitive impairment is 25/26 points (out of a maximum of 30 points). It is questioned by some of newer studies and reduced to cut off about 23 points.

MoCA's validity and reliability has been confirmed repeatedly by various methods. This article summarizes the progress of testing including test quiz.
