Abstract

Cardiorenal syndrom (CRS) is a syndrom where acute or chronic cardiac and/or renal disease causes a disease of the second organ. Since 2008 the classification into five type of CRS according to C. Ronco is used:

1. acute cardiorenal syndrom,

2. chronic cardiorenal syndrom,

3. acute renocardial syndrom,

4. chronic renocardial syndrom and

5. secondary cardiorenal syndrom. Recently a novel classification of cardiorenal syndrom into seven type is suggested, based on the most important clinical manifestation:

1. hemodynamic,

2. uremic,

3. vascular,

4. neurohumoral,

5. due to anemia and/or disturbance of iron metabolism,

6. as a consequance of mineral metabolism disturbances,

7. as a consequance of malnutrition, inflammation and cachexia. Its authors believe this classification is better from the point of wiev of pathophysiology, clinical aspects as well as therapeutic management than the original one.
