Abstract
The aim of the article is to explain the problems of treating patients with acute illness or injury in the Emergency Department. The first part of the article the authors describe the formation and evolution of emergency nursing in the United States and compares the the current situation in the Czech Republic.
In the second part of the article the authors report their experience with teaching of Emergency Nursing as study programme and reflection of students.
