About the sense of attempt "to learn from history" : Teachers challenges in the topic of the Holocaust in late modern/postmodern context

Abstract

The report of conference, the presentation is added, revels some aspects of modernity, which causes the Holocaust as still present. Furthermore they are present in the way we create our memory about it.

Some examples of historical movies are mentioned and spread way of school teaching about the topic is criticised. The report contains comparison with the Porajmos, which feels as mostly ignored, and some interpretation, why it is, is offered.

The main goal of the report was an attempt to open a discussion about the topic even if some controversy could occur. The main ideological link consists of an effort to show some examples of art and pop-culture and widely spread understanding to the Holocaust in school compared to the main ideas of Zigmunt Bauman published in "Modernity and the holocaust."
