Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |
2017

Abstract

The book inquiries into the democratic regime in the Czech Republic following the introduction of the popular election of president in 2012. The authors analyze how the constitutional and political practice changed after the 2012 amendment and discuss the issue of whether the Czech Republic shifted to a semi-presidential system.

The authors argue that the Czech Republic has remained a parliamentary regime, although the popular election has had mostly negative effects on the working of the Czech polity.
