The study focuses on the motives of Jan Hus and Hussitism in the Czech literature of the 2nd half of the 19th century. It deals with the interpretations that appear in the anthology Ruch and in the texts by Václav Šolc, Adolf Heyduk, Josef Václav Sládek, Svatopluk Čech, Eliška Krásnohorská, Emanuel Miřiovský, Otakar Červinka, Ladislav Quis, Otakar Morký, Julius Zeyer, Jaroslav Vrchlický, Bohumil Janda Cidlinský, Václav Beneš Třebízský, Josef Braun, Alois Jirásek, Jan Voborník and Josef Svatopluk Machar.
