Publication at Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts |
2017

Abstract

In his extensive life-long work, the author (who wished to remain anonymous) reveals the symbols of Christian hermeticism with many of its planes of mysticism, gnosis and magic, while also taking into account Kabbalah and certain elements of astrology and alchemy. These symbols are summarized in the twenty-two so-called "Major Arcana" in tarot cards.

Through the Major Arcana, the author seeks a meditative path to a deeper, all-encompassing wisdom of the Catholic mystery. In his twenty-two "spiritual exercises", the author refers primarily to the ideas of Jakob Böhme and Rudolf Steiner, C.G.

Jung, Péladan, Papus, Philippe of Lyon and often refers to great philosophers and theologians like Thomas Aquinas, Bonaventure, Leibniz, Kant, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Bergson, Solovjev, Teilhard de Chardin; as well as playwrights and poets like Shakespeare, Goethe, Cervantes, Baudelaire, and many others. Frequent mention is made of St.

Anthony, Albertus Magnus and St. Francis of Assisi, as well as extensive citations primarily of St.

John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Ávila.
