In Defence of Agatheism: Clarifying a Good-Centred Interpretation of Religious Pluralism

Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |

Abstract

In response to criticism of his agatheistic interpretation of religious pluralism - seen as a powerful challenge to domestic and transnational social order - voiced in print by a number of prominent philosophers, Janusz Salamon critically analyses the arguments of his opponents and clarifies the main outlines of his theory, stressing the importance of the new social context created by rapid globalization for understanding of the phenomenon of the revival of religious fundamentalisms and the possibilities of constructive responses to this phenomenon.
