FIRST LORD, AND THEN DOG - DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN'S DRAWING IN PRESCHOOL AGE, AND ITS EVALUATION

Abstract

Children's drawing can be a source of information about the mental development of a child, and also it can serve for an orientation evaluation of the level of graphomotorical functions. Development of drawing skills depends on the development of various functions: cognitive, regulative, and also motoric.

This manifests in the change of the way how drawing is processed, increase of details, and also two-dimensional imaging of particular parts of the object and improving its proportions. The primary displayed object is the human figure, whereas, it often serves for various diagnostic purposes.

The aim of the present study was to create a simple method for screening evaluation of human figure drawing, and method for assessment of the drawing flexibility, which will become evident in the display of other than human figure object, in this case in the drawing of a dog. The results confirmed diagnostic quality of both methods.
