Abstract

František Alexander Elstner was one of the most important Czech adventurers who were travelling around Latin America in the first half of 20th century. In 1938 went to Argentina in the car of the Škoda company specifically in the model Popular.

His trip was important in two points of view. Firstly he visited Czech and Slovak immigrants in the region.

Secondly we should have on mind the ties between Czechoslovakia and Argentina in the late thirties when Argentina was the most important country in Latin America for the Czechoslovak export. Because of that the adventure in the Czechoslovak car had also propaganda purpose for Škoda.

Elstner wrote about his way the book named Tango Argentino where, besides the facts about the trip, described also persons who were crucial in the mutual economic relations as Richard Lehký.
