Atypical tuberculosis (Mycobacterium kansasii)

Abstract

This case report presents a 54 years old man with an accidental finding of a decay proces in the apex of the right lung and negative TB cultivation who was indicated for a surgical confirmation of teh lesion. There was performed a wedge-shaped resection of the lung and pathologist peri-operatively suspected a specific proces.

Later on, the culture and molecular genetics proved Mycobacterium kansasii and the anti TB Treatment was adjusted. Considering a complete resection of the lesion and patient's skin allergy the Treatment with antiTB agents was fully terminated in the further course of the disease.
