Paideia as the key method of evangelism and discipleship in the early Church

Abstract

The article examines the ancient Greek concept of Paideia by looking at the Platonic tradition and exploring the way concept was appropriated in the early Church for doing evangelism and discipleship. Special attention is given to Gregory of Thaumaturgus' Panegeric and his descriptions of Origen's method of teaching.
