HCV infections can have serious consequences, such as hepatic cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, while, at the same time, the treatment has been relatively limited with a number of therapy resistant infections. The therapeutic options have recently expanded and thus it is important to periodically update recommendations for the state-of the-art therapeutic regime reflecting the changing options.
This publication aims to summarize various aspects of HCV infection, including epidemiology, diagnosis, laboratory methods and screening and, mainly, therapeutic approaches. The therapy is described in detail and recommendations are given with respect to HCV genotypes and severity of the disease.
