Abstract
The book contains the Greek text with a line-by-line commentary, a Czech translation and a study which introduces the reader into the major scholarly discussions surrounding the Louvre Partheneion: the myth represented in the first part, the ritual enacted, the identity of the goddess, the metre of the poem and its relation to the genre of choral lyric. In an appendix the reader finds an anthology of other texts traditionally ascribed to Alcman.
