Neoadjuvant treatment of breast cancer

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |

Abstract

According to randomised studies, neoadjuvant systemic treatment has the same impact on patient mortality as adjuvant treatment. Preoperative systemic treatment is primarily meant to decrease the size of a tumour in breast or lymphatic nodes and improve it operability.

Just like adjuvant treatment, systemic treatment affects minimally residual disease and has an impact on survival.
