Abstract
This contribution is based on a review of ten-year development of building Department of Biomedical Statistics (BioStat) on the 1st Medical Faculty UK in Prague (1. LF UK), both on the professional field (in terms of statistical services), and on the administrative ones (in context with a slightly unfortunate localization of this department under Institute of Biophysics and Informatics of 1.
LF UK). The aim of this paper is to summarize and highlight the most valuable results of the work of this department and to try on this example anticipate likely future developments of biostatistics in the country.
