Abstract
The book presents a brief overview of new opinions in rehabilitation, in the diagnostics and in therapeutic procedures which are based on the concept of coordinated rehabilitation. Elements of the coordinated rehabilitation are discussed and the process of rehabilitation, the rehabilitation cycle and its individual stages are defined.
Text includes international conventions and recommendations that define the scope of the assistance provided by prevention, primary care and rehabilitation. The book also incorporates the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health ICF, recommended by the European Commission and Council of European Union to all member states and instructions how to use this classification.
Next chapters describe the examination methods used in rehabilitation - reflexology, rehabilitation of functional disorders of the brain and spinal cord and the treatment of spasticity. The core of the book represents the part, outlining new ideas on the system of modern rehabilitation and on medical rehabilitation of children.
The introductory chapters present new ideas on the structure and function of the peripheral motor system and on the structure and functions of centrals units involved in motor control.
