Abstract

Abstract The dramatic history of Russia at the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century still fascinates historians and sociologists. The problem how one of the biggest, very fast developing capitalistic countries turned to revolution, bloody terror and civil war cannot be solved with the help of just one discipline - history or sociology.

It requires complex and interdisciplinary approach for answering the questions about October Revolution 1917, the event which prejudiced the history not just of Russia and Russian nation but the whole World. Changes in the economic system, the social, moral and spiritual spheres and the growth of cultural needs, created new conditions for the development of sociology as a science.

The paper elaborates to the development of Russian sociology and the way how the events of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century were reflected in the work of Russian sociologists and philosophers.
