Abstract
The paper reviews the book of Jonathan Bolton Worlds of disent. Charter 77, The Plastic People of the Universe, and Czech Culture under Communism.
The author focuses mainly on the selection of analyzed sources and their interpretative value in the relationship to other participants. Bolton as the literary historian analyzes mainly written ego documents, which randomly enriches with journalistic and oral historical interviews.
This method works good for analysis of the debates which was developed in the Charta 77 community, but in case of underground culture it make the author to overlook other participants.
